Here I am, I will try to tell my story, but I am sure that you will know me better by looking at my works.
I was born and raised in Sicily. I attended art school and specialized in metal art. There I began to lay solid foundations for my passions and my trainings (maybe their origins are far-back, since my mother made me create and play with everything in the house when I was a little girl). In that school, my relationship with design and applied arts has begun.
Later, I graduated at the IUAV University of Venice. My Master thesis focused on participatory design. You can find it here!
My choice to study architecture stems from the Bauhaus and his pioneer Gropius. Therefore, during the university years, I deepened my knowledge of design and creative processes. From the spoon to the city (as E. Rogers wrote), and why not, even drawings, books, posters and everything that is possible to design (find me something that is not possible to design!).
I did an Erasmus in Paris, at the École Nationale Supérieure d'Architecture de Paris-Malaquais, and I worked as a trainee in Brussels at the Departement Omgeving, Ruimte Vlaanderen-Spatial Development Department Flaners.
After doing some volunteer work, always focused on participation, I packed my bags again and moved to Portugal, where I worked in some architectural firms and in an art gallery.
All these experiences made me realize that my interests do not include only design, a cornerstone in my education, but also graphical representation (Illustration, graphic design ...).
The belief that graphical representation is the most democratic language is growing more and more in me.
I don't like words and have already written a lot.
I'm a creative and I like to communicate through images.
My goal is to transform any idea into representation.
CREATIVITY = CREATIVE PROCESS = DESIGN
THIS IS THE PRINCIPLE ON WHICH MY WORK IS BASED: EVERYTHING I CREATE IS A PROCESS,
According to Treccani, the term CREATIVITY indicates "a process of intellectual dynamics that has as its characterizing factors: particular sensitivity to problems, ability to produce ideas, originality in conceiving, ability to synthesize and analyze, ability to define and structure in a new way own experiences and knowledge ".
"Creativity, as a finalized use of imagination and invention, is continuously formed and transformed. It requires a ready and elastic intelligence, a mind free from preconceptions of any kind, ready to learn what it needs in every occasion and to modify their opinions when a more just one is presented. "
"Creativity is a purposeful use of the imagination."
"Creativity does not mean improvisation without method."
THERE ARE TWO OTHER PRINCIPLES ON WHICH MY WORK IS BASED:
THE SEARCH FOR BEAUTY AND SIMPLICITY.
"There must be no art detached from life: beautiful things to look at and ugly things to use."
“Complicating is easy , simplifying is difficult. To complicate, just add everything you want: colors, shapes, actions , decorations, characters, environments full of things . Everyone is capable of complicating. Few are able to simplify . "
